Nearly 30 million students graduate from college every year around the world and this number is going to double in next 6 years. With increase in graduates the competition will increase 4X and a resume makes it worse.
At Recroup, we allow job seekers to create a profile that tells their story in a way a resume can not. Job seekers can add their social media accounts and technical accounts and receive score on their online activities. We do not believe in self reported skills, this is why at Recroup, job seekers verify their skills by taking skills test. With Recroup job seekers can differentiate themselves and stand out from the crowd.
But this is just one part of the solution. At Recroup, companies can create challenges associated with jobs. Consider it as first round of interview. Recruiters get all the important information about the applicants along with their performance on the challenges without going through even a single resume.
With Recroup companies can find best the best talent and applicants get the job they deserve.
Our target audience is college students and recent graduates. Companies seeking talent but end up spending time reading identical resumes.
LinkedIn is focused towards experience and self-reported skills. This makes it worse for college students and new graduates with no experience. LinkedIn makes them look rather slim. Most of the other job search sites available in the market are résumé based and no one gives job seekers an opportunity to stand out from the crowd like we do. While we do not have patents yet, we are planning to file them on our scoring algorithms.
Where did the idea for the startup come from?
In 2012, Google conducted an open interview drive in India. Not sure for how many position but nearly 40,000 candidates showed up. Amit was one of them. Amit didn’t go through the whole process because after reaching there he knew what he wants to change in the world. The broken hiring process and give job seekers an opportunity to stand out in the massive crowd. Amit connected with recruiters at various companies to understand the challenges they go through and how to address them.
We all met each other at Heurion Consulting, where Amit was working as Marketing Manager, Shiv was lead ROR developer and Kaushik was front-end developer with interest in back-end development. Though we were working in different domains but shared one vision of building something of our own. We got the major opportunity of working together on Heurion’s in house project “TestimonialsFor” ( www.testifor.com ). During the project we all work very closely and realized that we make a great team.
We started the company in March 2013. Amit Chauhan is the CEO, Shiv Bharthur is the CTO and Kaushik Vinay is the head of design.
We are in the highly crowded market. Though, we are targeting to a very specific group but breaking into the market hasn’t been easy.
Our goal is to establish our name in the college recruiting market and gain significant market traction in coming year.
