How do I find my Android phone?, How do I find my Samsung phone? How do I locate my Google Nexus?
Kept your phone somewhere and not able to find it now? Don’t remember where you left it? Or has someone stolen your precious phone? If the answer to all the above is yes, then I’m hundred percent sure, you must be thinking of ways to locate it or find it and find it like RIGHT NOW.
Locating an Android phone?
Similar to Apple’s innovative feature to track a cell phone ‘Find My iPhone’, Android phones also have an option courtesy the Android Device Manager. In older phones, ADM needs to be installed in order to track it if you can’t find it. It is best to be planned ahead instead of crying afterwards. Thus, get the ADM installed in your smartphones before you lose it or worse, it gets stolen.
In order to track a cell phone effectively, it needs to be connected to the internet or Wi-Fi. With advanced technology, the lost cell phone can be tracked through GPS and mobile networks. For this to happen, you must have a Google account, whether downloaded or in built.
In order to track your lost or stolen Android phone, you can follow either one of the ways.
1. Track using Google
Most Android phones now come with in-built ‘Find My Device’ feature which makes locating your phone easy and simple. So, in case you have lost your phone, use this feature to track your phone’s current location using a laptop or another Android phone. You can ring the phone if the location is near you, or get a hint and you can also erase the phone if you fear it stolen.
Having tested the feature on my Samsung phone I came to the conclusion that although the feature is not cent per cent accurate on the older Android phones, it works best when using the newer versions. On my old Samsung model, I had to try and get the location several times as it kept showing ‘location unavailable’ repeatedly and when the signal did come, it kept circling around my home, since I was testing the tracking feature sitting in my living room.
Here, I learnt one important thing; preparation is the key to be able to find your lost phone.
2. Locate using third party apps
With several phone tracking apps appearing in the market the effort to track a cell phone has reduced considerably. You can locate your phone all by yourself by simply downloading and installing one of the numerous apps available on the internet. Installing and using these third party apps is quite easy, even for a layman. Tracking any phone, yours or otherwise has been made really easy by the Google.
Many options are available on the internet, a careful study of the apps and choosing the one that meets your requirements makes you tension free, in case you do lose the phone.
