Opportunities to showcase your business ideas around the world!
Ever wanted to take your tech startup or business idea around the world?
Recently two opportunities to do so have been brought to our attention at The Startup Magazine, and we wanted to share them with you!
Bizcamp Tel Aviv
The first is a competition that offers UK tech start-ups a chance to go to an enterprise conference in Tel Aviv to hone entrepreneurial and business skills, and to show off their company.
The winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to Bizcamp Tel Aviv. The UK winner will also join a delegation of ten entrepreneurs from ten different European countries in Israel, where they will gain a unique insight into how a country of just 7.8 million people earned its nickname, the “Startup Nation”. The event is organised by the city of Tel Aviv, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The Next Web. Bizcamp’s ten day itinerary occurs during the 14th-24th October 2012.
The ten day event will be formed around seminars covering strategy formation, financing models, intellectual property and pitching. Bizcampers will also win exclusive “access all areas” visits to R&D centres in Tel Aviv, such as the Google Incubator, Microsoft Accelerator and the eBay Social Centre. During the event the winner will also get the chance to meet with Tel aviv’s leading entrepreneurs.
In order to have a chance of winning this great prize you need to apply soon! Entries close on the 22nd of August. To apply please go to www.bizcamptelaviv.com. Entrants must be aged between 23 and 30, and must be available to travel between 14th and 24th October 2012
Wayra: A Telefónica accelerator
The second is an opportunity to work with Wayra, Wayra is an initiative from Telefónica that seeks to promote innovation and identify talent in Latin America and Europe. Wayra’s program helps entrepreneurs develop, by providing them with technological tools, top class mentors, a snazzy working space and the financing required to accelerate their growth.
Wayra launched in the UK, opening it’s first UK academy in London. In May this year they held their first Wayra-week, which took the top applications to Wayra on a week long course to find the top businesses to set up in the academy.
Wayra will announce its next call for applications in March of next year.
Wayra has academies open around the world, so you do have the opportunity to apply to them, however you need to make sure you have the right to work in the country and it is necessary for you to speak the local language too.
Wayra values the community effect of their academy’s and the opportunity entrepreneurs have to learn from each other. For that reason, you’d need to be willing to relocate to the Academy for the period of the acceleration- effectively 6 month.
To conclude, both are great opportunities to take your start up, or business idea around the world and accelerate your growth to the next level. We highly recommend looking at what Wayra and BizCamp Tel-Aviv have to offer.
