Everything Everywhere Have partnered up with the RAC to help them improve their fleet’s efficiency, in order to save a significant amount of fuel and running cost to their fleet service.
This has been done with the use of sim cards in different telematic boxes, to record data on all the cars on their fleets.
Each vehicle has three telematic boxes, recording a large amount of data including average speed, breaking time and acceleration. All this information is fed back to the drivers as an efficiency score for driving.
The data provided by the telematic boxes can also be used to improve the time of arrival estimations for the rescue vehicle to the RAC’s customers.
See how the RAC are connecting their patrol vans over the EE network, saving them £500,000 a year on fuel costs:
From this video it is clear that the EE partnership has great potential as a financial saving tool for existing business.
There are a number of other partnerships EE could explore with other fleet based business, such as Adison Lee, Ocado, and even currier services such as UPS.
However there is likely to be more potential for the technology offered by the EE telematic boxes, and could be applied to other industries.
