Signs that you Need to Change Careers
Are you concerned that your current career is not the right one for you? If so then you need to make a change, right now. If you do not take steps to better your situation then you may find that you end up stagnating and this can work against you in the future.
You’re Apathetic
As each day goes by, you may find that you feel somewhat disconnected from your reasons for entering the field of your choosing. Mentally, it may be that you have checked out. Underperforming may be an issue, and it may be that deadlines are slipping away from you. In some instances, you may find that you just can’t muster the energy or the enthusiasm to feel passionate about your company. The truth is that even at a job that you are passionate about, there will be times when work just feels like work. If you can’t remember the last time you felt energized though then now is the time for you to think about changing your role. Consider seeing if the company you work for now can offer you additional opportunities, or find out if you can make a change by applying to a new one.
You’re Being Treated Badly
If you have a nasty boss who just isn’t giving you the respect you deserve then you need to change careers as soon as possible. It may be that you are suddenly having security clearance issues, in which case you’d need to hire a security clearance attorney and take action. It may also be that you are being forced to work long hours without any consideration for your home life. If this is the case then it is so important that you make a change by seeking out a role that allows you to sustain your mental health.
You’re Just Not Making an Impact
If you feel as though your job is the same, every single day then this is also a strong indicator that you need to make a change. You may feel undervalued or that your talents are being wasted. Over time, it may be that you have stopped seeking out ways to contribute and this can leave you feeling somewhat demoralized. If this is the case then now could be the time for you to seek out a new career. If you don’t then you may find that things end up getting worse and this can have a major impact on your mental health.
You Hate Going to Work
Everyone has days where they hate going to work. They end up hitting the snooze button one too many times or it takes them a bit of extra time to get going with things. If you experience this daily or if you find that you live for the weekend but can’t deal with the idea of Monday morning then this is a major sign that something has to give. It may be that you are dissatisfied with your current role and that you need to give some thought to the other areas of your work.
