In 2016, Deloiltte’s HR guru Josh Bersin predicted a “new Digital World of Work.” Bersin emphasized that the fast-growing HR tech industry had received $2 billion in VC funding in 2015, which he said fuelled a growing ecosystem of new tools.
At the same time, organizational structures are evolving and HR departments are decentralizing. More and more businesses are hosting their business operations on the cloud, and new HR tools enable team collaboration.
Recruitee is a cloud-based recruitment tool that allows teams to handle vacancies and candidates more easily. The SaaS platform aims to create an ecosystem of innovative HR technology. Here, co-founder Perry Oostdam explains just how they are doing this.
How is HR tech evolving, and what problem do companies still face?
Hiring is a notoriously complex process. It’s easy to get mixed up in emails, to-do’s and reminders. A lot of first-time founders and companies who have never hired before struggle with this. If you don’t have a good process in the first place, it’s going to be more overwhelming, and turns into much more than just a day job. One costly mistake of having an inefficient hiring process is that the time-to-hire per vacancy can frequently go up to 6 months.
With Recruitee, teams and companies can hire and manage their teams effectively from one place. Teams take control of the hiring process themselves – which means they can hire faster and more efficiently.
So, how does Recruitee work?
Recruitee is a cloud recruitment tool that makes team management and hiring more efficient by allowing companies to handle vacancies and candidates more effectively. This SaaS hiring tool integrates four products in one platform: employer branding, job promoting, talent sourcing, and applicant tracking.
Team members create accounts, they can then make a personalized job site for team or company vacancies, which is powered by Recruitee. Users create, edit and publish job descriptions on the careers site, post the vacancies on job boards and multiple other channels. They can import candidates from websites, receive, organize and evaluate applicants and also email them.
How did you come to create Recruitee?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs. My grandfather had a flower business, he ran a tennis hall and my father launched a bowling alley and a real estate development startup. When I was 16 I started my first company, Quality Technology with my cousin. We imported gaming machine from the US and put them in cafes. After university I met Pawel online and we began to collaborate to launch companies like GeoRun, a location-based game that lets users pick up virtual items with their smartphones.
The company began to go in a direction that I wasn’t after, turning more into an agency. So we began to brainstorm new ideas. We had gone through the hassles of hiring, and decided to turn our attention to creating a tool to streamline, helping other businesses and ourselves too. From day one we have focused on creating a simple tool that we would want to use, stripped down and available to a large audience.
How is Recruitee different from other Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)?
We pride ourselves on being different by creating truly intuitive software that people actually want to use. Our products is simple to use and we are completely transparent with our roadmap and feature enhancements. We ask for feedback on a daily basis and it’s through working with our clients that we are able to continuously innovate.
Who are your customers, and how is this changing with new consumer trends?
The people using our platform tend to be fast growing SMEs. For them new technologies help to make them more efficient, this is incredibly important for new businesses with limited resources. Recruitee fits into a trend of HR tech, we’re building an ecosystem of innovative technology. Ultimately, we want to make it easier for teams to hire.
